Media Advisory: Governor Herbert asks Utahns to “SparkChange” via Wildfire Prevention Pledge

Overview:

Following the record-breaking 2018 fire season that destroyed several Utah homes, evacuated communities, degraded air quality and caused wildlife habitat to go up in flames, Gov. Gary R. Herbert and Department of Natural Resources leadership will launch Utah’s first wildfire prevention pledge: SparkChange. The pledge can be found online at SparkChange.Utah.Gov. Citizens who take the pledge will enter for a chance to win a $250 gift card for their commitment. More than half of Utah’s wildfires are human caused, meaning Utah could save millions of dollars every year by working together on prevention. Every dollar put toward wildfire prevention saves the state between $17 and $35 in fire suppression.
