Alta Hotshots – Crew Culture

Alta IHC’s culture is one that has been curated by each crew member and has slowly evolved over time since the crew’s inception back in 2003.

We pride ourselves on the amount of training that takes place at all levels within the crew and recognize that sharing knowledge only makes us stronger as a whole. We promote curiosity and open-mindedness in all aspects of the job and encourage our Hotshots not to limit themselves strictly to the positions they were hired for, but to ask questions, learn, and speak up. Here on Alta, we refer to this as being a ‘Total Hotshot.’

We recognize that each individual brings their own unique strengths, skill sets, knowledge, and experiences to the table, enriching the group’s ability to approach challenges from various angles. This diversity not only helps in problem-solving but also encourages creative thinking and more effective decision-making. By drawing from the strengths of each individual, it allows us to be more resilient and able to tackle difficult challenges. Ultimately, the combination of varied expertise fosters an environment where we can learn from one another, growing both individually and collectively.

We understand that embracing failure with a positive orientation can be a powerful catalyst for growth and improvement. When failure is viewed not as a setback but as an opportunity to learn, it creates a safe environment where our hotshots feel empowered to take risks, experiment, and think outside the box. This has led to open communication and accountability, as individuals are more likely to share their challenges and mistakes, knowing that these moments are stepping stones toward progress.

We practice a commitment to resilience daily as we understand that this is a key factor in fostering a strong, dynamic, high-performing group and ultimately a highly reliable organization. Every individual on the crew understands that resilience isn’t a one-time trait, but rather an ongoing practice that permeates our work and mindsets as a whole. “Psychology is more contagious than the Flu”

We prioritize family understanding that this means recognizing and respecting the individual needs, values, and personal lives of each crew member. This kind of environment fosters a culture where every person is seen as more than just a role or a task, but as an integral and valued part of the organization. This approach emphasizes the understanding that our Hotshots are not mere cogs in a machine, but unique individuals with their own aspirations, challenges, and life circumstances. By treating each person with empathy and respect, we create a collaborative and supportive atmosphere where our Hotshots are encouraged to be the best versions of themselves.
