Story This magnificent tree was discovered on July 23, 1923 by Mourice Blood Linford. After the initial discovery, the tree received a flood of attention due to its size and estimated age. After several studies were done in the 1990s, scientists determined that the tree was at least 1,500 years old. The tree still serves as a popular destination for many hikers.
